This year for Thanksgiving we went on a short trip to the Atlantic. Joined by the Johnson family, another family of 6 here at AVA, we left after school on Wednesday to have a few days of relaxation.

Our destination was the Hotel Atalaia Inn, situated right on the beach of the Atlantic Ocean.

We enjoyed swimming, wave jumping, beach sports, reading, relaxing, and being away from the responsibilities of the school.

Many sand castles were built and demolished by the waves. Here Karina and Hannah get ready to begin building a new one.

Elisabeth, Caleb, and Matthew caught a jellyfish and a hermit crab. They built a little "home" for them until the waves carried them back to their real home.

Another AVA family came out there too, bringing another 5 teens & 2 younger kids with them (not all theirs). :o) Frisbee was the game of choice for the beach.

We had beautiful weather. The temps on the coast are quite a bit cooler than here in Belem. It was nice to have lower humidity levels and cool ocean breezes.

A beautiful sunset.
Because of the way the beach is situated, we actually get to see the sunset, even though we're on the east coast.
It was a nice mini-trip and we are thankful for the time we had there.

Two beautiful girls!

A great time with friends & family!
