Every year the HS Seniors are in charge of planning the Christmas Banquet. This year the kids decided on an International theme for the December 5th event.~Christmas Around the World~
~~~
After a delicious menu of Brasilian appetizers, Mexican taco salad, Italian lasagna, French bread, and an American ice cream sundae bar; we played some great games, had a gift exchange and then went Christmas caroling to several campus dwellers and Guest House guests.
A fabulous & tasty Ice Cream Sundae bar...YUM!
~~~
Since dating isn't a big thing here (having only 20 kids in the HS), the kids were randomly paired up. Gals were given the name of a Capital City and guys were given the name of a Country. The kids then had to figure out who their "date" was for the evening and both had to dress ethnically from that country. It was a great way to mix up the kids and get them to use their creative juices for ethnic costumes.

Take a look at some of the creativity that went into our Christmas Around the World fun.
Nathanael & Rahel were from Sierra Leone...Hmmm...wonder where those outfits came from. :o)
And here's another couple from the shores of West Africa!
We decided that Mateus looked like a poor Mexican farmer and Ursula, his aristocratic Mexican wife. Ha!
"Always Prepared"
Doug came as the totally prepared Swiss Boy Scout (do they have those there?). Nathalie just wore one of her favorite shirts and came as her own nationality.
Did they carry their Swiss Army knives in their pockets??
A designer couple from Italy -- Gucci Kim and Armani Gabriel
These two came to us from ancient Greece. Rachel looks happy to be there, but Josh looks a bit pained with the whole idea.
Here's a serious Ecuadorian couple --Mr. & Mrs. Stewart
Hungry folks from Hungary.
Collazos got the award for the most creative way to represent their country.
Darlene & Yugo brought greetings from Japan. Yugo fit his part very easily, and he even spoke the language. :o)
Mishaela & Freddie came all the way from India to join our event.
Diana and Ivan came as a couple of locals ~ Brasilians!
Andrew was a French artist with the beautiful Parisian gal, Jessi.
We wouldn't have had much of a night without this crew. Gary & Sandy Parker, Marj Santos, and Junior Highers, Mackenzie, Elisabeth, & Kaila did all the serving and kitchen clean up for us.
You guys were awesome! Thanks a TON!
Our helpful & efficient serving gals
The drawing game.
Everyone had to draw what they were instructed to draw -- on top of their head!
A Christmas tree, a star on top, a fireplace with a mantel (had to inform some of the kids what that was...not too much call for a fireplace here in equatorial Brasil), two stockings on the mantel, and a present under the tree.
Go, Darlene! I'm sure you are doing great!
Janelle Collazo had a very nice picture going.

It was a fun night filled with lots of laughs, great food, & memories!
Good job, Seniors!
