Field Day - October 17, 2008

~ Field Day ~
That marvelous day each year marking the end of our first quarter of school!

Every student at AVA is assigned to a team and participates in field events and races. Parents and staff gather, helping out and cheering the teams on.

The day begins with music led by our Praise Band students...

...followed by a devotional given by Dennis and translated by Curtis,
one of our seniors.
~~~
The two teams work hard before the big day to come up with a
Team Cheer & Flag.
This year we had the Team Tagu (an Amazonian lizard)
and The Ground Breakers!
Elisabeth was on the Ground Breakers.
Our other 3 kids were Tagus.
Hannah & Elisabeth take a flying leap in the long jump!
~~~

Caleb soars over the hurdles!

Run hard, Nathanael!

The relays are always a highlight of the day.

Doug takes his best shot at the shot put.

Nathanael gets a silver medal for the second highest individual points earned in the Jr/Sr High Boys.

Team Tagu wins in the overall points this year and will have their team name engraved on the trophy.

Hannah clotheslined herself the day before Field Day. She forgot that they rope off the soccer field. Turning to run from someone, she got caught on the ropes. Ouch!!!
Her neck is looking lots better now, but she got a "beautiful" rope burn, and plenty of sympathy, for Field Day.

Darlene, Kim, Mishaela, & Jessica ~ some of the HS girls celebrate their
Jump Rope awards.

A few of our lane timers for the races

Senior Girls, Mishaela & Darlene, celebrate their last AVA Field Day!
~~~
It was a great day for everyone!
