Albras
Aluminum Processing Plant
Bacarena, PA, Brasil

Last month our Junior High and High School went on an awesome field trip to Albras, an aluminum processing plant about an hour's drive from Belem.
The group arrived mid-morning and were given an incredible tour of the plant and learned all about aluminum processing. The group eat lunch at the plant before heading home in the afternoon. It was an incredible learning experience for all who went.

Here is a picture of part of the plant. Notice the tons and tons of aluminum bars stacked outside.

Here are Dennis and Elisabeth sporting the great equipment they got to wear for the tour.
Hard hats, ear plugs, smocks, protective glasses, & masks
There were also "cool" protective shoes to wear.

Disney Fun Night
The High School had a Fun Night to help raise funds for their spring trip.
This Fun Night was a Disney Theme.

You could go to the Disney Princess Makeover Booth and have your hair and make-up done.

Hannah got a beautiful hairdo that even lasted through the night for the next day.

Here are two of our esteemed HS teachers...getting a make over????

If you went to Nathanael's booth, you could search for Nemo from among his friends.

Caleb goes a round at Woody's Round Up.

Looks like maybe cowboying is not his forte.

Folks even had the opportunity to shoot it out with Air Bud's Owner.

Brasilians from the community were invited to take part in the fun. Some of these gals are English students at AVA's English Foreign Language School.
The two gals on the right, Karine & Gaby, are my students.

It was a great night for everyone and the HS made a good amount of money for their trip.

Graduation Invitation Assembly Party
With the uniqueness of our school and where we live, standard invitation companies don't always meet the needs of what the students want on their invites ~ dual language wording, class picture, class verse, etc... With that being the case, they often come up with an idea and then design their own invitations.

The senior class and I spent from 3:00pm on a Friday until 1:18am Saturday making all the invitations they needed ~ 280 total.

We printed each invite individually, front and back, on our "oh so slow" printer.

We then cut the invite according to our design and attached our "pretty" swoosh to the front.

It was a very long day, but we had a great time. Dennis fed us pizza, the kids kept us entertained (until they went to bed), and we plugged along until we finished.

It's a good thing graduation only comes around once a year!
